Spring Equinox/Cónocht an Earraigh
As we approach the Spring Equinox/Cónocht an Earraigh, I thought I would share with you this Cailleach Oracle recorded for students four years ago.
The Cailleach is always with us, always present within the land. At Autumn Equinox/Cónocht an Fhomhair, she comes as Hag of Winter, ushering in the dark half of the year. On 20th of March this year (2026), we celebrate Cónocht an Earraigh, the balance point of equal light and dark, poised to move into the bright half of the year. The Cailleach is both ancient and youthful, having the ability to renew her youth and vigour, and it is this youthful aspect, symbolising regeneration and hope, which we encounter at this time.
Through oracle, which is a technique taught to students on the Priestess/Bean Feasa Training Programme, we allow the guidance of the Goddess to flow through us, sharing her words on our voice.
On the Equinox morning, I and other COIRE SOIS participants will be gathered on Sliabh na Cailligh in Dawn Ceremony, to greet the sunrise and welcome in the youthful aspect of the Cailleach and the bright half of the year. All present on the hill are welcome to join us in honouring the ancestors at this time.
More on Spring Equinox, with photos from Sliabh na Cailligh/Lough Crew, after the 20th of March.
