Signs of Spring

As Spring Equinox/Cónocht an Earraigh gets closer, the COIRE SOIS garden is showing visible signs of Spring, despite the stormy wind blowing today. The daffodils have been open for a while and, finally, the primroses are in flower. Tiny buds that will soon be a haze of lacy white blossoms are showing on the blackthorns. Although some of the trees are still bare, the hazels, the elder, and one of the hawthorns are already in leaf. Everywhere there are signs of new life and renewal.

On March 20th, we will greet the sunrise at Lough Crew/Sliabh na Cailligh and welcome the renewal and return of the Cailleach in her youthful aspect, as we poise at the point of balance, ready to move into the bright half of the year.

This is the time to release all that no longer serves us or adds to our vitality, to consider what we might need to add into the cauldron of our being, to restore balance, and to energise us. It is a time to send out prayer for a restoration of much-needed balance in the wider community, and for the growing light to reveal what is needed for positive change in the world, as well as within ourselves.
